New Credit/Debit Cards are headed your way. First Cheyenne Federal Credit Union is in the process of improving our credit card and debit card programs by going “real time”. We are changing our processor in order to reduce our costs and improve efficiencies.

Our old system was done in a daily batch so charges and credits would be posted only once each business day. Saturday and Sunday would post with Friday’s batch on Monday.

The new process will post the transactions to your account here at the credit union as soon as the merchant posts your purchase. Please note that even though you have made a purchase some merchants might only post once a day. But within minutes of their posting it will show on your account. That’s “real time”.

What does that mean to us as members? We will be able to see our charges quicker and know our checking balance or credit card balance as it changes. When you make a deposit with a teller or your direct deposit comes in the funds that are available will be shown on the ATM or available to a merchant without the delay of waiting for the next batch processing update.

So, watch for the new cards and new PINs (mailed separately) to arrive soon. An added benefit with our new program is that you will be able to select or change your PIN yourself. Remember that if you have used your card to pay monthly bills (example wireless phone), you need to update your card information when the card expires. We are not changing the expiration date of your cards with this reissue.

But on August 30th, be sure to activate your new cards so that you can begin using them. Your old cards will not work after August 29th.
